Add notes to your chart
Record launches, campaigns and other changes on your Revfaro traffic chart. Share private website notes with your team and review their edit history.
In short
Chart notes connect a change in your business with a moment on your traffic and revenue chart. Add a date, time and a short description. Notes belong to one website, use its timezone and are visible only to people who can access that website.
On this page
Use notes for a product launch, newsletter, pricing change, campaign or outage. For example: "Launched the new onboarding flow" explains a change you may later see in visitors or revenue.
Create a note
- Open the website's dashboard.
- Move over a date on the overview chart. When Click to add a note appears, click that point. On a phone or tablet, tap the chart at the date you want.
- The editor starts with the selected chart date. Adjust the date and time in the website's timezone if needed, then write your note.
- Save the note. Its marker appears when its date is inside the chart's selected period.
With a keyboard, focus the chart and use Left or Right to choose a date. Home and End select the first and last chart points. Press Enter or Space to open the editor for that point.
You can also choose View next to Notes, then Add note. This works without selecting a point on the chart. Only workspace owners, admins and website managers can add notes; viewers can read existing notes.
Notes accept up to 500 characters. The author is recorded automatically. You can add more than one note at the same time.
The timezone is shown in the editor. A time skipped by a daylight-saving change cannot be selected. If a clock change repeats the same local time twice, choose which UTC offset you mean.
Find notes on the chart
Turn Notes on or off to control the markers. This choice is saved for that website in your browser; it does not change your teammates' views.
Markers follow the chart's hourly, daily, weekly or monthly grouping. Notes in the same chart bucket share one marker with a count. On narrower charts, nearby markers combine so they remain readable. Selecting an existing marker opens its notes rather than creating another note. Choose View notes to browse and search the selected period. The list also provides access without using the chart or a mouse.
The list starts with the selected period. Change Note dates to All notes to find older or future notes, including dates before you added the website to Revfaro. This does not change the chart's period.
Traffic filters do not hide notes: a launch or campaign is context for the website, even when you filter its visitors. Searching the notes list does not remove other notes from the chart.
Edit, delete and review history
Workspace owners and admins, and members with manager access to the website, can edit or delete any of its notes. Viewers can read them.
Open a note's History to see who created or changed it, when they did it and the text and date saved in each version. If someone else changes the same note while you are editing, Revfaro keeps your draft and asks you to review the latest version before saving again.
Deletion requires confirmation and removes the chart marker. The Deleted list keeps the note and its history available for 90 days. Deleted notes cannot be restored; you can add a new note if needed.
Revfaro keeps the latest 50 history entries per note. Each website can have up to 5,000 active notes and 10,000 notes including retained deletions. Deleting a website removes its notes and history. Deleting an author's account keeps the team's notes with the author removed.
Keep notes useful
Use short descriptions your team will understand later. Include the change and its purpose, such as "Started the October partner campaign." Notes help explain timing; they do not prove that a change caused a rise or fall in revenue.
Notes are private to authorized website members, but everyone with access to that website can read them. Avoid passwords, API keys and personal customer information.
Frequently asked questions
Do notes count toward my event quota?
No. Notes are team annotations, not tracked visitor events. They use the same dashboard access rules as the rest of your website's analytics.
Can viewers change notes?
No. Viewers can read notes and their history. Workspace owners, admins and members with manager access to that website can add, edit and delete notes.
Will a note appear in a public share card?
No. Notes and their history stay inside the signed-in dashboard. Public share cards and embeds do not include them.
